- Applicants Process
- Applicant must be a member of the San Antonio ARMA Chapter or student pursuing career as a records manager and a resident of Bexar or adjacent county
- Applicant must fill out the ARMA Scholarship Request Form
- Applicant must submit an essay of at least 100 words describing how the requested course content is related to records management
- Applicant must submit a letter of recommendation from a supervisor, teacher, professor or other appropriate reference
- Applicant must submit current resume
- Award Priorities
- Early Career Enhancement – People in the early stages of their careers who can demonstrate that a particular educational offering will significantly increase their ability to deal with a specific job assignment, address a problem, or advance in the field.
- Strengthening a Capacity to Deal with the Significant Issues – People at any stage of their careers, who can demonstrate that a specific educational offering will enable them to:
- handle an issue of significance to the field;
- supervise, train, or develop others (e.g., staff they supervise) in a significant issue; or
- contribute to the profession’s efforts to deal with a significant issue
- Commitment to the Field - People who show commitment to the field, through what they have done on the job and professionally and what they indicate they are interested in doing.
- Part of a Development Plan - Education offerings that clearly fit in with the applicant’s past work and career plans.
- Quality Educational Offerings - Educational offerings shall include those where the:
- sponsoring institution is clearly competent to offer the course or other opportunity;
- presenters are clearly qualified through training or experience to teach or present;
- content (what will be covered) is clear; and,
- outcomes are clear, either from the course description or what the applicant provides
- Cost Effectiveness - Educational offerings where the applicant can make the case that the offering is cost-effective, i.e. that the quality and expected outcomes are worth the investment of funds.
- Reimbursable Expenses (amount not to exceed $500)
- Eligible expenses:
- Registration for eligible courses. These include: Records management, Archives administration, Document Imaging , Human Resources, Information Management, Information Resource, Knowledge Management, Medical Records, Micrographics, Office Management, Organization of Information, Records Technologies
- Course Materials
- Travel
- Facility equipment reservations (for guest lecturers or local chapter workshops)
- Submission of expenses
- Proof of completion with a signature verifying completion of course, seminar, etc within 30 days of completion
- Expense verification – Original copies of invoices should be included in submission
- Scholarship Recipient Requirements
- The following requirements will be expected from all scholarship recipients:
- Article in Newsletter to include an overview of educational experience
- Brief oral overview for an ARMA Meeting
- Promotion
- The ARMA Scholarship Program will be promoted through the ARMA monthly newsletter, announcements at meetings, and the San Antonio ARMA webpage.
